During the PGA Las Vegas show in Sept. ‘09 I met the manufacturer of the Sweet Spot Golf Clubs. They are a fairly new company who has designed a unique line of golf clubs for women. He offered me the opportunity to try their Sweet Spot Pink Putter. It is part of their “Pink” line of clubs where a percentage of the proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I jumped at the opportunity to try it as I was in the market for a new putter and Sweet Spot Golf supports a good cause.
The design and one of the main selling points of the Sweet Spot Golf Clubs (drivers, hybrids and putters) is the head design. Their entire line of clubs has a diamond shape with directional arrows painted in pink and white or black and pink. This design serves two purposes: look and functionality. The design is colorful and will no doubt draw attention to your clubs! They do add “bling” to your bag. Each putter also has the option of a milled or poly insert face. The other purpose is to help you line your club up to the ball on the “sweet spot” and to position the club on the aimline of your target, also referred to as the Precision Positioning System. Most clubs (drivers, hybrids and putters) have a mark or center-line, but the large arrow design that covers the entire head of the Sweet Spot clubs make target alignment much easier. It takes some of the guesswork out of the process.
My golf game is a work in progress. My driver and woods suit me well, but I’ve had a lot of trouble swinging my irons and in lining up my putter.

The arrows on the putter helped me line-up the ball more accurately.
My short game has been weak and I needed a putter that would help me with two issues that I need to improve: lining up the ball correctly and an unsteady take away. The putter I’ve been using since I started playing golf is the White Hot Odyssey #5. It has a line on the head to help me line up the ball, but I was consistently a bit off to the right of the cup. I thought it was lined-up, it looked on the aimline, but it wasn’t. The Odyssey felt light to me also and my take away had too much movement. I couldn’t keep guessing on my line-ups, finding a new putter was on my list of “things to do.”

After three days of using this putter I decided it was the putter to carry in my bag. I also had a friend try the putter and she loved it so much after using it for three holes that she bought one on the spot. She felt the Sweet Spot Putter resolved her alignment issues as well. It is safe to say that I am “SWEET” on the Sweet Spot Pink Putter.

The H-3 hybrid features the Precision Positioning System for target alignment. This unique alignment system is unique to Sweet Spot and is incorporated into all of their clubs providing a consistent look across driver, hybrid and putter. Review: We reviewed the H-3 hybrid with 19 degrees of loft and 39″ length. The first thing that you notice about the club is the alignment marks on the crown of the head. These marks make alignment of the club a snap and combined with the hot pink color frame the ball at address offering a high degree of confidence that you are aligned correctly.
We knew the focus of the company was the look of these clubs. Their corporate tagline says it all: “GO AHEAD. BE DIFFERENT”. With the unique alignment aid and pink color, it would be easy to categorize these clubs as gimmicky and dismiss the possibility that they could also perform. We were pleasantly surprised when we tested this hybrid out on the range and on the course. Our group of testers included a girls’ high school golf team. They instantly liked the look. It only took a few swings to quickly realized there are more to the clubs than their appearance. The low profile head design and rear weighting makes the H-3 hybrid easy to hit and get the ball airborne. They offer a forgiving head design that has a solid feel to it. They were equally easy to hit off the tee and fairway and we found the club’s length to be longer than many hybrids we have tested. We give the H-3 Hybrid high marks for it unique look in the hybrid category and its good all around performance that should not be overlooked. Additionally, you are supporting a worthy cause when you buy these clubs. The Pink Line also includes a 13 degree driver and putter that features both a milled and poly insert. Last week I played three days in a row using the Sweet Spot Pink Putter. It has a flashy pink handle and diamond/arrow design on the head. It is heavier than my current putter and a very different feel to it. The first day I used the Sweet Spot Putter I had to adjust to the feel of it. My boyfriend, who is a PGA Professional, was golfing with me and explained that I would need to change my hand position to use this particular putter. So the learning curve proceeded into the next day. By day three I was putting much better. My alignment was on target and I was two putting on many of the holes. There was absolutely no movement on my take away swing either. The weight and balance of this putter smoothed out my swing. Each Sweet Spot Putter has a perimeter weighting system that is helpful in keeping the stroke smooth through impact of the ball.

After three days of using this putter I decided it was the putter to carry in my bag. I also had a friend try the putter and she loved it so much after using it for three holes that she bought one on the spot. She felt the Sweet Spot Putter resolved her alignment issues as well.
